A bold claim indeed but this tracker is amazing, it works anywhere in the world straight out of the box, I always try and bond with the subject matter and the website that I am working with but for the first time I am simply stunned by this product. I used one in the home for a number of days, in the car, with my grandson, even on our dog and it was a great success.

Copywriting for the actual website was an easy assignment, they gave me some script information and some bullet points and the layout and scope was quite small.

That said it was also very enjoyable and whilst I am not completely sold on the site design I recognise that Ninja tracking have taken a bold route and stepped away from the traditional style tracker website and introduced something quite new.

The tracker website is predominantly green and black in design but really gets the message across even if it looks a little sultry.

Yes it is true, this is a website that is being created to sell bespoke tracking devices so that women can track their husbands when they think they are cheating – yes that is cheating husbands! The website is in creation at the moment so I was asked to create some holding copy whilst I put together the information for the ecommerce facility.

That said I had to test and use the tracker to fully understand what it was all about and all I can say to those cheating husbands is that you had better watch out becuase this tracker finds you, owns you and spits you out to the divorce court. It is a scary peice of kit where you watch live GPS tracking, you can follow your cheating husband wherever he goes, even in Google street view, in fact you can follow him from your car via a smart phone, at home on a PC or on a train even with a laptop!

It gave me a lot of insight into this side of life and of course the tracking is a little intimidating as a concept to those people who are naughty, but really if you behave properly in a relationship then you would have little to worry about.

Time is running out for cheating husbands –
Thankfully I know my husband is true and dedicated and I do not need to track him…… However it would be great to know when he tells me he has left the office and is on his way home that he really is! that way I would not be burning his dinner all the time and I can also avoid sitting down and looking like I have been watching TV instead of working in the office.

The subject of errant husbands and wives for that matter is a serious one though and much misery is caused by careless and casual affairs, spending time with the guys at ESP showed me that there is real passion in hunting down cheats and considering the money involved it is certainly motivated by ethics as well as commission because the commission is relatively small.

First I get a copywriting assigment for a new tracking device and then another copywriting assignment for private investigator training, then a third copywriting assignment for another whey protein website section.

It is not often that I get two assigments from the same industry but this month I have, the first one is a training programme for private investigators, this is part of the ESP group and they have expanded their website to incorporate information on their training modules. Now of course this is the darker side of life so I decided that I had better make sure I did my job properly otherwise I would find myself being watched and bugged!

Seriously though I did learn a lot of technical information on their industry which as it happens looks like quite an interesting way of earning a living. In fact I can completely understand why people are looking for training to set up a detective agency or to become a private investigator. What I found intriguing was their stance on infidelity, they were really set against infidelity even though quite a lot of their business was associated with tracking down errant spouses.

Anyway, it was enjoyable and I found out how to track people to with centimetres without even leaving my office!

Copywriting never gets boring when I am able to dig into multiple projects and this month there is a really juicy selection, it seems that I have become well known for being able to both advise on SEO matters

This was an absolute dream for me, I have always wanted long eyelashes and then I get a client who asks me to do some keyword research and write some content and in return I get a nice cheque plus a 6 month supply of Uberlash!!

It was great fun and the product was really cool, the research showed there were very healthy search volumes and the Google trend was sharply upwards, this also shows the competition will be strong thats for sure.

Now the site is live and I get to use my eyelash serum which really does work, I was sceptical when I got the freebie but here we are with my lashes looking very full and enhanced.

My next project is a really good one and I am looking forward to getting into the research so I know the market and what people are looking for each month.

Watch this space because it will be quite a splash in the industry!

It looks as though the shortage of whey protein in the sports supplement and nutrition industry is set to continue after rumours that the Fonterra – First Milk partnership will not produce whey protein for the sports nutrition industry and that the product will be going to a different market.

This is bad news at a time retailers need the product and indeed there is a definate move by some brands to source the product from China which may have other implications.

The thing is that in the sports nutrition industry cheap does not always mean best and there is continued poor press and mistrust over non Euro product.

Consolidation is coming to the whey protein industry as fast track brands gobble up competitors to protect supply

Consolidation in the whey protein market will see small companies gobbled up by aggressive fast growing companies.

The industry itself will consolidate somewhat because rapid brand expansion in any industry will see fast growth comapnies looking to gobble up smaller companies that are either struggling or that are showing good signs of development.

This however will not assist the problem of demand outstripping production and the growth of protein drinks will also eat away at the market supply of the raw product.

The quality of the content has been vital as since Google’s Panda update poor quality pages are suffering whilst high quality pages are doing well, this is what Google wants and so that is what it is getting. The striking thing here is that we have effectively created a thriving business in an economic downturn where new businesses drown in weeks and established businesses are going bust every week.

Now some people would argue that the term – hog roast hire – is not that competitive well I can tell you its £2 a click in adwords and the companies that were on page one has almost all been caught and beaten, in addition there is such a flow of leads that despite starting mid season the hog roast business is booked out until end of October.

As well as the bookings for this year there are already 5 bookings for 2012 and one for 2013 for weddings, now I am creating content for catering search terms as this is another area of large search volume.

And there you have it, from nothing to a thriving business in just 12 weeks and also achieved in a recession and with little investment just expertise and passion.

There is no substitute for good expertise and experience and this once again shows that harnessing SEO knowledge to good copywriting skills makes the difference to success or failure for a business that depends on customers from the internet.

Well the new cupcake website is live and I am only half way through the product upload which has lots of content with each product.

This project is only two months into its evolution and we already have a website that is getting local listings – which by the way is very important for a cupcake website. The deployment of quality content for both the website main copy and the core product information has already been successfully embraced by Google.

This has seen the website rise through search results rapidly with the minimum of linking activity, in fact this really shows that the Google Panda update was definately about poor quality pages. It is good to see all the ‘content is dead’ merchants falling on their swords after believing all that was needed for positioning was a H1 tag and a load of linking.

Duchess Cupcakes is a new website that displays some incredible cake craft and cupcake designs and writing for the website was really easy and natural. The product pages are crisp and full of good quality copy and Google loves the website already so just like the hog roast business Duchess Cupcakes is already heading for success.

The copywriting skills I have blend perfectly with my SEO knowledge, I have trained copywriting teams for a number of large companies and I am also employed by other companies to vet the often poor service that they are paying for from London copywriting agencies.

As they say in the industry ‘you need to cut your teeth on the coalface’ which means that your copywriting apprenticeship should be spent working at the sharp end on small websites where you can make the difference to whether a venture or a business survives.

What I would add to this is that once you have that sharp end experience you need to keep your hand in at that sharp end and continue to work on small projects.

Yes a new project for my copywriting skills, this time we are working the SEO copy into a new whey protein product website, it will be an interesting assignment because this is a very competitive industry.

After my success with the last project which saw the hog roast company go from new website and domain name to position 4 on page 1 in Google for the term- hog roast hire, I felt I needed a stronger challenge. That was just three months from start to finish and the results were unbelievable considering we used a brand new domain name.

Whey Protein
So the new project is a whey protein website that will sell online, firstly as usual the domain name has been bought and then I have started to populate this domain with quality content whilst the e-commerce platform is created. The crucial part here is to ensure that the current content remains accessible after the new website goes live and to avoid deleted pages and redirects that are not needed.

Good Copywriting and SEO Planning
This is the crux of a good strategy since most people will not consider the damage done when a site gets established in Google and then wholesale page migration takes place. Even using the customary 301 redirects will be less effective than creating the right content platform in the first place.

Good copywriting will be the spring to a fast track in search results as it is the pivot that pulls together code and linking, this process has been successful now in many of the projects I have worked on. Copywriting with a very high level of SEO knowledge is a definate advantage and so the strategy for linking must be aligned with the deployment of content.

It is irrefutable because the proof is another successful assignment where a hog roast company went from a new domain name to page 1 for generic search results in just 3 months.

So back to the new project, the business of sports nutrition is growing and so is the competition, the only was the get ahead is through clever marketing and especially when a new domain name is going to have to play catchup on domain names that have been established for a number of years.

I know what you are thinking – How will you make money doing that?

Well firstly its not about making money its more about self satisfaction, I love doing this as I am both creative and artistic, I am very busy with copywriting so I need something that slots into my schedule. In addition it means I will be writing copy and content for myself, this is a first and it will allow me to effectively be the customer.

This alone would be a valuable exercise since it will help me to understand the needs and the effectiveness, of course I have the luxury of having one of the best SEO’s in the land as my husband and so we can accurately gauge how good my content is.

We are starting from scratch and have only just bought the domains, it took just 3 weeks to get listings for the hog roast business and so I hope to get my first enquiries just as quickly after we are published. The downside is that my content will be going into an e-commerce platform which will have some restrictions with less freedom and effectiveness than the other website.

This therefore is another good experience as it means I will face some of the problems that many of my customers face, I can better understand how content works within a tighter framework and one that has the defined goal of selling online.

It will take longer to setup but once we get there I will write about the journey and then map the progress for both the search results and the sales.

It will be exciting and so now all I need to do is start sorting images and structure – it will be the first time I have deployed actual website content into my own commercial enterprise. If my own copywriting skills are able to deliver success for me then it makes the perfect case study for the copywriting side of my business.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Dr Asim Shahmalak on his website at Crown Clinic, he is such a charismatic character and was really great to work with.

Asim Shahmalak was a very professional client to work with, demanding high results and performance in a very unassuming manner. The content refresh on his website was undertaken over a few months as Dr Shahmalak is fastidious about his website copy and rightly so since his site has sat near the top of search for a number of years for his generic search terms.

The process was streamlined though and Dr Shahmalak would check thoroughly each section as we worked through the website, it was all done at distance and to save him time (he is a very busy man) and often he would review the copy late or grab time between surgeries.

The job is not quite done yet but there is nothing quite like a content refresh for a high performing website like the Crown Clinic as it keeps Google very interested.

With search terms such as - hair transplant costing many £’s per click in paid search (Google Adwords) Dr Shahmalaks natural search position is very valuable.

When researching I found a number of accolades for Asim Shahmalak including the renown TV doctor Christian Jesson who had his hair transplant work done with Asim at the Crown Clinic, if you look at Dr Jesson then of course you would not even know he has had this work done unless you look at aged pictures, that is how good Dr Shahmalak is.

As an afterthought I also concluded that a vote of confidence for cosmetic surgery such as this does not get any better than a testimonial from one doctor from a different type of practice to another.

Certainly if you look at the image of the before and after on the left margin you can clearly see what an excellent job this was, this is also very apt since Dr Jesson is predominantly involved in helping people overcome embarrassing health issues.

The health issues are not always about the obvious either, it is well known that people suffering from hair loss have a lot of anxiety and mental repercussions.

Anyway I digress, the job is a bit like painting the fourth road bridge as we have found that this particular combination of writing style and frequency is really keeping the website bouyant in search results – and thats a result we like!
